As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to infiltrate the day-to-day regimen of people and industries everywhere, our staff at the Law Offices of Ben Yeroushalmi find it our upmost priority to be a reliable resource to the public and our communities. In these times of unprecedented uncertainty, we find it all the more important to stay informed and adaptive to a fluid, ever-changing situation. We believe we all must do what is in our power to combat the spread of the virus by responsibly following recommendations from the World Heath Organization (WHO), Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and cooperating with local health policies.

That is why we want to inform you of our plans of action: first, to keep our staff, our clients, and our loved ones safe; second, to reaffirm our commitment to providing high quality service in protecting the elderly, a demographic more vulnerable than ever before.

As the state of California and the city of Los Angeles take steps to mitigate the spread of the virus, many have paused in-office operations. Our office is determined to protect the health and safety of our employees, clients and loved ones in order to provide service of the highest caliber.

Consequently, to ensure both the safety of our staff and compliance to our government’s directives, our office assessed our workflow, minimizing in-office functions and transitioning to working remotely from home. When a visit to the office is deemed essential, we diligently practice all sanitation recommendations, sanitizing all objects we come into contact with, handling all incoming documents with gloves. Our staff not only remains updated on the COVID-19 news and recommendations, but we also stay up-to-date with our cases by proactively utilizing our digital resources.

In anticipation of the virus’s impact, our office updated our systems to be accessible remotely and took advantage of the multiple platforms available to us—Zoom, Google Hangout, What’s App, phone-conferencing—to remain connected with each other and our clients. We maintain a collaborative and communicative work atmosphere by working actively on each of our cases and meeting regularly through video-conferencing. Though our physical office is temporarily closed, our office is open and fully operational. We will not cease our operations, staying faithful to our clients and to prospective clients. Our staff actively speak with prospective clients, offer free consultations, and remain responsive and attentive to every caller.

Working in the industry of elder abuse litigation in these trying times, when those 65 years and older and those in long-term care facilities are disproportionately at risk, has further bolstered our dedication to the job. We strongly believe many nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other long-term care facilities—already stricken with chronic understaffing and shameful deficiencies in standards of care, prior to the pandemic—are grossly unprepared for what is to come during this pandemic. In a time when the California Department of Public Health released an all facilities letter attempting to mandate the admission of COVID-19 positive patients into nursing homes, we believe we should be especially attentive and mobilized. We intend to be just that, to remain focused on protecting the elderly and vulnerable.
